Connecting to the Root

Immanuel is a Hebrew word that means, "God with us."  Thus, Immanuel is more than just the name of a congregation in Murray, Kentucky; it is an experience of God's promise to each of us.  God is with us as individuals and in community, God is with us in joy and sorrow, God is with us in loneliness and togetherness, God is with us in death and in resurrection.  So, come and experience Immanuel.  Come and experience God with us!

What Is Immanuel Like?

Our worship services and our Bible studies are modeled around recreating, and thus reentering God’s story (the true definition of remembrance).  As such, our worship is liturgical, sacramental, purposeful, and grounded in the historic roots of those who have gone before us.  Our Lord speaks and we listen.  Our Lord dispenses gifts and we receive them with thankfulness and praise.  The rhythm of our worship is from Him to us, and then from us back to Him.  We build each other up as we speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

Our times of study in God’s Word are deliberately grounded in the Hebraic roots that shaped Jesus and his disciples.  It is in being connected to the roots of our faith that we are able to more fully experience a deeper love for God and a real passion for His Son, and thus develop a greater understanding of Scripture as a single, unified entity.   At Immanuel, we seek to be both ancient and future, to be both historic and relevant, and to be sincere passionate disciples of Jesus the Messiah.
